Ian Jones

I was a student of Reg Winnall (Shunpu Kan Dojo Stafford) who introduced me to Japanese Swordsmanship in 2000. I trained with Reg twice a week before I began to move around the country with various jobs and continued to train with him biweekly after relocating to Suffolk in 2004.
For a period of approximately 2 months while working in Nottingham I also received weekly instruction from Brian Morrison at the Seiro Kan Dojo. I continued to seek Brian's instruction and comments whenever possible.
Another very influential figure had been Neil Kemp, his instruction on seminars, encouragement and continued email correspondence answering questions and giving helpful feedback from his own extensive experience had been invaluable.
Further to this I was able to travel to Japan three times to attend MJER seminars in Ozu. Once in 2004 and twice in 2007, both times in 2007 I was very fortunate to have received instruction from Iwata Norikazu Sensei.
I consider these people my teachers and those who have had the most significant influence in shaping my iai, to them I am most grateful.

As well as continuing to regularly seek instruction I practiced and instructed regularly at the Shunpu Kan Dojo in Norfolk until 2010 when I moved back to the Midlands.

I no longer practice MJER.
